Rana Maqbool Ahmad was a Pakistani politician who served as a Member of the Senate of Pakistan from March 2018 until his death on 12 September 2023.

Political Career

Senate Nomination and Election

In 2018, Ahmad was nominated by the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) as its candidate for the Pakistani Senate election. However, a ruling by the Supreme Court of Pakistan led the Election Commission of Pakistan to declare all PML-N candidates for the Senate election as independent.

Despite this setback, Ahmad was successfully elected to the Senate of Pakistan as an independent candidate on a general seat from Punjab. He was backed in the election by PML-N and, after winning, he joined the treasury benches led by PML-N.
