Michael Anthony Williams (May 18, 1987 – September 5, 2023) was a talented American football wide receiver who left his mark on the field. In his senior year, Williams displayed exceptional talent. On offense, he racked up an impressive 970 receiving yards and scored 15 touchdowns. But his prowess wasn’t limited to offense alone; he also shone on defense with 35 tackles and two interceptions.
College Career
Williams’s journey to football stardom continued as he entered the college scene. In 2006, as a true freshman at Syracuse University, he wasted no time making an impact. In just 10 games, he made 24 receptions, amassing a team-leading 461 yards and scoring four touchdowns.
The following year, in 2007, Williams earned recognition as an all-Big East second-team selection. His statistics for the season were nothing short of remarkable. He tied a school record with an astonishing 60 receptions, accumulating 837 yards and ten touchdowns in 12 games.
However, Williams faced a setback in June 2008 when he was suspended for the entire 2008 season due to academic reasons.
Despite this hurdle, his love for the game persisted. In 2009, Williams was on track to make his mark. He showcased his incredible skills, amassing impressive numbers. He made 49 receptions, accumulating 746 yards and scoring six touchdowns in just seven games. Unfortunately, on November 3, 2009, he decided to quit the team after a possible suspension following a violation of team rules. This decision marked the end of his college football career.
