Early Life and Education
Hanó’s educational journey took root at the Vocational Secondary School of Food Industry in Szeged, where he gained essential skills and knowledge. In 1978, he successfully completed his state examination at the College of Food Industry, paving the way for his future endeavors.
Professional Experience
Following his education, Hanó assumed the role of manager at Körös-Food Ltd., where he dedicated five years of his career. Later, he served as the Chief Engineer of Production at the Húsker Company in Békéscsaba, showcasing his expertise in the food industry.
Political Ascent
In 1993, Miklós Hanó made a pivotal move by joining the Independent Smallholders, Agrarian Workers, and Civic Party (FKGP). Over the years, his dedication and leadership abilities led to his appointment as chairman of the party’s Békéscsaba branch from 1993 to 2001. Additionally, he became a representative in the Békéscsaba Assembly in 1994.
Notably, Hanó also assumed the role of head of the FKGP in Békés County between 1994 and 1998. His contributions to the party were remarkable, but he parted ways in 2001 when the FKGP dissolved and the coalition with Fidesz, led by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, came to an end.
Undeterred by the changes, Hanó went on to co-found the Hungarian Smallholders and Civic Party (MKPP) in 2001, where he served as chairman. His dedication to agriculture and related matters was evident when he took up the position of Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture from October 16, 2001, to May 14, 2002.
A Commitment to Growth
Throughout his political career, Hanó remained steadfast in his support of the Fidesz party, becoming a member in 2009. His influence extended to the Smallholders’ Civil Alliance (KPE-KPSZ), where he held a prominent position.
Return to Parliament
In 2010, after an eight-year hiatus, Hanó made a triumphant return to the Hungarian Parliament, representing Békés County Regional List. He played an active role as a member of the Committee on Agriculture, contributing his expertise to critical matters.
Local Ambitions
In 2014, Hanó aimed for the mayoral seat of Békéscsaba during the local elections, running as a candidate for Fidesz. However, he faced stiff competition from independent politician Péter Szarvas, ultimately falling short of victory.
